STRENGTH TRAINING

Strength training can be fun and empowering for some but can also be scary for others. The coaches at CrossFit Barrie are here to ensure you will learn the proper technique before adding weight to your lifts.

What are the benefits to strength training?

INCREASE BONE DENSITY
As we age (and we are all getting older), it’s important to keep our bones strong so that you can remain independent for your entire life. Taking out your own trash and being able to play catch with our grandkids at 60+ years old is ultimately the goal, so don’t be afraid to lift some load to keep our bones strong.

ENHANCED QUALITY OF LIFE
The stronger you are, the less risk of injury and the more of an enhanced quality of life you have. When you’re stronger it will improve your ability to do everyday activities while reducing the risk of injury.

BUILD A STRONGER HEART
Your heart is a muscle and just like your other muscles, it needs a workout too! When your heart gets a workout from lifting weights, your resting blood pressure decreases and your blood flow improves, this allows your body to work more efficiently and keep you healthy.

INCREASE METABOLISM
Have you ever lifted something heavy and been out of breath?! I HAVE! After a strength session, your metabolism increases and keeps you burning calories all day!

MANAGE CHRONIC CONDITIONS
Learning new skills and pushing your body to new limits helps your brain build new connections and pathways. That stimulus to the brain and body will reduce the signs and symptoms of many chronic conditions, such as arthritis, back pain, obesity, depression, anxiety, heart disease and diabetes.

The brain needs a physical and mental workout just as much as the physical body does!

Go lift some weight, get your heart rate up, lose some body fat; you deserve all the benefits!
